Tojo the Monkey & Other Clonakilty Stories eBike Tour

4PM Daily - A gentle afternoon eBike tour through Clonakilty town, Ring village and the roads between. Hear strange tales, local history and stories of Tojo the Monkey on an easy-paced West Cork spin.

This shorter afternoon eBike tour is a relaxed spin of around 20km, designed for people who want to explore Inchydoney Island, Clonakilty and Ring at an easy pace, with time to stop, look around and hear a few good stories along the way.

We roll out through Clonakilty and onto quieter back roads, weaving our way towards Ring village and the surrounding countryside. The route is gentle and unhurried, with the eBikes doing the heavy lifting, leaving space for conversation, small observations and the kind of local stories you’d never find on a signboard.

Along the way we dip into moments from Clonakilty’s past and present, including the curious tale of Tojo the Monkey, alongside other stories rooted in the town, the landscape and the people who shaped it. Placenames, snippets of history, odd characters and local lore all feature, shared in a natural, informal way.

This isn’t about ticking off highlights or racing through miles. It’s about slowing down, noticing where you are, and getting a feel for Clonakilty and Ring beyond the main streets.

Perfect as an afternoon outing, especially for those short on time or looking for something lighter, sociable and story-led.

Public transport: The nearest bus stop is in Clonakilty town. From there it’s a short taxi ride out to Inchydoney Island.
Getting here: Inchydoney Island is just 10 minutes outside Clonakilty in West Cork. It’s around an hours drive from Cork city and about 90 minutes from Killarney, depending on traffic.
Rider height: You’ll need to be approximately 150cm (4 ft 11") tall to ride our smallest eBikes. This is a guideline only, as leg length and confidence on a bike can vary.
Children: We have one cargo eBike available with a rear bench seat for children. It can carry one larger child or two smaller children, with a combined maximum weight of 50kg (110 lbs).
